Nero 2014 Platinum: Burning and media creation suite gets easier to use

The ever-competent Nero disc-burning and multimedia creation suite takes on almost easy-to-use status in its latest incarnation, Nero 2014. Considering that the platinum version of 2014 burns all manner of optical discs, converts video for nearly all devices, plays Blu-ray movies, and provides about 90% or the media creation and editing features of more expensive suites, it's also a bargain at $130 (with a 15-day free trial). Photoshop Elements 12: Mobile albums and content-aware tools dominate new release

Adobe's annual update to Photoshop Elements, its consumer image organizer and editor, offers a satisfying array of new features. While changes in version 12's Organizer focus on syncing and sharing photos for access on mobile devices, the Elements 12 Editor includes slick Instagram-inspired effects, textures, frames, new guided edits, and a content-aware move tool. Even more exciting is an intuitive image correction method that remembers how you use it and a Red-Eye tool that works on animals--two features that even its flagship sibling Photoshop CC doesn't have.
