Today's Story Highlights
New Relic Analytics Aims to Speed IT Problem Solving
New Relic last week previewed Rubicon, a new software analytics tool
that aims to let companies use live application data to provide clear,
actionable business insights across an organization. "This isn't
analyzing consumer data, sales data or anything like that," noted tech
analyst Jim McGregor. "It's just analyzing how an IT system is running
in terms of resources and data it's using."

What's Missing in the iPad Air
Apple fans seem to thing anything Apple brings out is perfect and to
suggest otherwise is heretical. Given that I think fanboys give up their
intellectual freedom to the vendor or product they religiously follow, I
tend to wear the Apple Heretic badge with honor -- and thus I'm going to
point out the technologies the Microsoft Surface 2 and Nokia 2520
products have that the new iPad Air lacks.

Cyberambush on Tunnel Security Blocks Main Israeli Artery
Israel last month was hit with a major cyberattack that shut down a key
tunnel that forms part of its national road security network. The
attack, only being reported now, knocked out key security operations on
back-to-back days, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in
damage. It reportedly came in the form of a Trojan horse and caused
shutdowns on both days.

Making Short Spark Videos Is No Fuss, No Muss
Yet another video camera app? What gives? Can it really be that cool? To
find out what Spark Camera brings to the world, I bought it -- and I was
pleasantly surprised. First, the interface is super simple, clean and
effective. To start recording, you just put any finger or thumb on the
screen and hello, you're recording. Take your finger off the screen, and
you stop recording.

Deutsche Telekom Pitches NSA-Free German Internet
Germany might go off the Internet in response to the United States
National Security Agency's recently uncovered surveillance activities.
German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, whose motto is "Life
is for Sharing," has proposed a national routing scheme that would see
all data packets -- including emails -- transmitted only within the
country's borders.

Firefox's Lightbeam Brings Web Trackers Out of the Dark
Mozilla has released a tool to show which companies are monitoring your
online browsing activity in its mission to make the Web more
transparent. Lightbeam, available as a free Firefox browser extension,
shows which third-party companies are tracking your browsing activity,
and how they are connected. Those third parties often represent brands
that want to share your data or display targeted ads.
