Today's Story Highlights

YouTube Guys Give Video Editors a Brand New Playground
It appears YouTube cofounders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen want to mix it
up with Vine and Instagram. Their video-editing app, MixBit, made its
iOS debut on Thursday. An Android version is coming soon. MixBit works
much like Vine and Instagram, allowing users to shoot and share short-
form videos of up to 16 seconds. However, MixBit goes a big step
further, letting users stitch clips together.

Amazon Greenlights HTML5 Web Apps
Amazon on Wednesday launched support for HTML5 Web apps in its Mobile
App Distribution Program. Developers can now submit URLs for their HTML5
apps to Amazon and leverage the company's In-App Purchasing API for
JavaScript. Amazon "is working towards closing the gap between the
capabilities of Web apps running on its platform and those of native
apps," remarked tech analyst Al Hilwa.

Nokia's Apple-Bashing Video Speaks to My Heart
Nokia saw an opening to attack Apple through the world's most-used
camera, the itty bitty unit on the iPhone. The attack? A politely
sarcastic ad on YouTube that parodies the generally excellent Apple
version, which brags that every day, more photos are taken with the
iPhone than with any other camera. While Apple won't feel the sucker
punch, the Nokia version was speaking to my heart.

Xerox Copiers Found to Futz With the Numbers in Scanned Docs
Some Xerox copiers/scanners have produced altered copies, researcher
David Kriesel discovered. A Xerox Work Center 7535 actually changed the
numbers on scanned documents. After looking into the discrepancies,
Kriesel posted his findings on his blog: The photocopier was resizing
the room dimensions in floor plans, as well as changing prices quoted
for the work.

Jackie Chan Pummeled on Chinese Social Media
Movie star Jackie Chan, the Chinese kung fu aficionado who has appeared
in more than 150 films, is taking loads of flak for posts on Chinese
social media. Chan first riled Chinese netizens when he posted a photo
of a picturesque Beijing skyline with the caption, "I took the picture
myself. Who says Beijing doesn't have blue sky? Look how blue the sky is
and how green the land is."
