Putting Enterprise Risk Under the Microscope (36:54)
Recent developments in the cybersecurity landscape have heightened
interest in accurately anticipating and understanding risk, and using
that knowledge to better manage organizations. Enterprises are better
delivering risk assessment and, one hopes, defenses, in the current
climate of challenging cybersecurity. Nation-state types of threats may
have a very serious impact on organizations.

Today's Story Highlights

Dell Decks Out 'Ophelia' for the Pint-Sized PC Parade
Not much has been seen of Dell's "Project Ophelia" thumb PC since its
debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, but recently reports
have emerged suggesting that the Android-powered device is now making
its way to beta testers, with an official release anticipated in the
next few months. Expected to be priced at about $100, the device is just
slightly larger than a USB stick.

The Jaguar F-Type vs. Tesla S: Amazingly Alike
I finished my hunt for a new car last month, and it came down to either
the Tesla S or the Jaguar F-Type. While affording one of those expensive
cars in full performance form was questionable, there was no question we
couldn't afford both. Since I'm a sports car guy, I think it is a real
credit to Tesla that I placed its large sedan ahead of the other sports
cars I drove.

Australia May Tweak Copyright Laws to Knock Down IT Prices
Australia has recommended changes to copyright law that would allow
Aussie citizens cheaper access to IT hardware, software and digital
downloads after a parliamentary inquiry found no good reason for prices
to be so high Down Under. The inquiry sought to unearth why IT prices
were so much higher in Australia than elsewhere. The probe kicked off
last year.

Unfaithfully Yours: The Linux Version
The dog days of summer may best be endured at a leisurely pace, but for
those of us here in the sweltering Northern reaches of the Linux
blogosphere, that simply hasn't been an option. Far from being the lazy
month many typically expect, July has brought not only a fiery debate
over codes of conduct among kernel programmers but also the launch of
Canonical's ambitious Ubuntu Edge crowdfunding campaign.

Come to the Ear Monsters Ball
When I stumble upon a fresh and creative app, particularly an app that
pushes humanity forward in cold dark universe, I take a closer look. One
such app is Ear Monsters: A 3D Audio Game. Monsters from a parallel
dimension have created wormholes to invade our universe. They quickly
become invisible in our world, but luckily for us, they don't realize we
can still hear them.

The Brave New World of Unmanned Vehicles
Remote-control vehicles once primarily inhabited the territory of
hobbyists. People would take their planes out to a field on a Saturday
afternoon and spin a few lazy circles in the sky. However, with the
advent of unmanned aerial vehicles, drones and the like, it has quickly
become a brave new remote-control world. These days, UAVs are easy to
use -- even for those with no experience.
