Fusion Rocket Could Hurtle Astronauts to Mars in 30 Days

It's not just the miles that pile up on a trip to Mars. It's also the potential for radiation danger for astronauts spending so much time in a spacecraft. However, a team of private and academic scientists are working on a fusion rocket design that could reduce the travel time to a 90-day round trip. NASA thinks enough of the idea to give it two rounds of funding, perhaps because the rocket may also cut down on the estimated costs of traveling to Mars.
