China's Great Big Holey 'Twitter' Net (18:51)
It is supposed to be the social media-powered enabler of free speech in
China. However, Sina Weibo's reputation is under a microscope following
a new study showing more than half of user accounts surveyed were empty,
and there weren't many postings of original content. In a country with
so much repression, though, maybe a few voices being heard is better
than silence.

Today's Story Highlights
BioShock Infinite Goes Way Past 11
Video game sales in general haven't exactly been sky high but soon
gamers themselves might be, thanks to 2K Games' BioShock Infinite . This
follow-up to the 2007 BioShock , which is set for release on Tuesday,
has been greeted by reviews as high-flying as its city-in-the-sky
setting. Not exactly a true sequel or even prequel to the original,
BioShock Infinite is more and different at the same time.

Cyberattackers Brewed Special Malware Cocktail for South Korea
Cybersecurity news had a distinctive international flavor last week. In
South Korea, a cyberattack from unknown sources disrupted portions of
the nation's banking and broadcast industries. During the attacks, a
North Korean Human Rights website based in Washington, D.C. was also
defaced.

Beyond the Grave, Onto the Smartphone
A cemetery in Shenyang, the capital of China's Liaoning Province, will
become, for lack of a better term, interactive . With mobile devices,
people will be able to scan a quick response code on graves of people
whose relatives have requested the feature. Scanning this code will
allow visitors to learn about the person's life; they can also access a
Web page where relatives and friends can upload photos or video.

The Fall of Apple and the Return of BlackBerry
We tend to be slow to see change. If a company is on top, like Apple
was, it takes a lot for us to see its fortunes have changed, as they
clearly have post-Jobs. If a company is on the bottom, like BlackBerry
was, it may be even tougher to see it on the rebound. We simply don't
like the change in our worldview, and this isn't just with regard to
companies but people as well.

New Kid on the FOSS Block: OX Documents
There's been much ado about office suites over the past year or so,
thanks in large part to the anticipation and then arrival of Microsoft's
baffling Office 2013. We've seen the ascendance of LibreOffice, we've
seen Redmond's wacky pricing plan, and we've even heard rumors -- as yet
unsubstantiated -- of a launch that would blow more than a few minds.
None of that could have prepared us for what came to light last week.

March Madness App Brings Its 'A' Game
I've previously avoided most big sports and event streaming apps for
simple reasons -- they tend to bombard you with glitchy ads or make you
jump through hoops to view the content, such as proving that you're a
cable or satellite subscriber. In March, however, NCAA basketball grabs
my attention.

China's Great Big Holey 'Twitter' Net
A recent study by researchers at the University of Hong Kong suggests
that China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo -- which boasted in February that
it had surpassed 500 million users -- might be overrun by zombie
accounts. The study, which looked at a random sample of 30,000 Sina
Weibo accounts, revealed that 57 percent of users had nothing in their
timelines.
