Online Gambling: The WTO Loads Antigua's Slingshot (34:08 min.)
The WTO ruling that lets Antigua suspend U.S. copyright law has its
roots in the birth of online gambling. It quickly became a major part of
the Antiguan economy, but dried up after the U.S. pulled the plug on its
agreement with the island nation. The WTO ruling gives Antigua a new
card to play: the threat of opening the floodgates on U.S. copyrighted
content.

Today's Story Highlights

Wikipad Tablet Gets Back in the Game
It could have been game over for Wikipad after a flaw in the initial
production run of its gaming tablet forced a launch delay late last
year. The company used the extra time, however, to
rethink the Wikipad, and this week it said the revised version
will debut this spring. The new version will be smaller.

Language Barriers Block BlackBerry From Japan Launch
Unable to justify the operating costs, BlackBerry will not launch its
newest handsets, the Z10 and Q10, in Japan -- at least not anytime soon.
The requirement to modify its operating system to accommodate the
language reportedly influenced BlackBerry's plan to bow out of Japan.
Another possible factor is that BlackBerry's market share in Japan has
dropped from 5 percent to 0.3 percent.

Satellite Communicators: Connecting the Wilderness to the World
In the midst of an emergency while on a Grand Canyon rafting and rock-
climbing trip last fall, Kevin Camp discovered first-hand the life-
saving capabilities of satellite communicators. When a member of his
party fell off a rock and sustained serious injuries, Camp used a
DeLorme inReach to contact rescue personnel and coordinate a helicopter
landing.

EU's Cybersecurity Plan Requires Members to Report Attacks
The European Union on Thursday announced a strategic plan designed to
prevent and respond to cyberdisruptions and attacks. The heart of the
plan: a requirement that all member states and key Internet enablers --
including some U.S.-based companies -- must report attacks. These
actions are part of the EU's overall cyber security strategy for a free
and open Internet.

The Impossible Quest for the Most Popular Linux Distro
Linux lacks any clear-cut system for determining which is the most
popular or the best distribution, or which desktop environment is used
more than others. That may be one of the major frustrations among Linux
developers trying to spread the word about adopting the Linux desktop
instead of Microsoft Windows or Apple's OS X.
