Online Gambling: The WTO Loads Antigua's Slingshot (34:08 min.)
The WTO ruling that lets Antigua suspend U.S. copyright law has its
roots in the birth of online gambling. It quickly became a major part of
the Antiguan economy, but dried up after the U.S. pulled the plug on its
agreement with the island nation. The WTO ruling gives Antigua a new
card to play: the threat of opening the floodgates on U.S. copyrighted
content.

Today's Story Highlights
Secret Review Gives Obama License to Cyberkill
President Obama can order a preemptive strike if there's credible
evidence of a pending major cyberattack from abroad, a secret legal
review reportedly has found. New policies will dictate how intelligence
agencies can monitor remote computer networks elsewhere for signs of
potential attacks on the U.S.

Twitter Hack Ratchets Up Security Jitters
Twitter has joined a rapidly growing list of U.S. companies to report a
major cybersecurity incident. The social network admitted late last week
that it was able to shut down a live attack, but not before hackers may
have been able to access personal information on 250,000 users.

Napkin Takes Visual Editing to a Higher Level
Aside from their intended purposes, napkins have been known to be used
for such things as jotting down the next big idea at business lunches.
It's that unintended purpose that inspired the folks at Aged and
Distilled software to create their markup app called "Napkin." Napkin
gives you a set of professional tools for visually editing content.

Linux Netbooks: Hiding in Plain Sight
You just think that's a Chromebook beckoning you with an open source OS,
easier upgradeability and fast connections to the cloud. All those
qualities could make it a Linux netbook in disguise -- or at least what
the netbooks of a few years ago promised before they all started selling
preloaded with Windows. The key? More manufacturers buying into the
flexibility of the Linux kernel in the Chrome OS.

The Triple-A Approach to Enterprise IT Security
Most companies tend to relegate information and technology security
concerns to the IT department. It might seem like IT staff are the only
ones who care about such matters, and security measures might seem like
a necessary evil in today's business environment in order to protect
proprietary and confidential information, but there is another side to
security -- a non-techie, business side.
