AT&T's Take on Shifting Cloud Challenges and Opportunities (33:23)
AT&T has been in the hosting business for more than a decade, but it has
adapted that part of its portfolio thanks to the rapid demand for
cloud-based services. The telecom giant is now taking a range of
offerings to the cloud -- infrastructure, virtual private networks,

Today's Story Highlights

Despite Security Issues, Pentagon Clears Android, iOS for Duty
The Department of Defense announced Tuesday it would be opening up its
communications platform to allow Apple and Android tablets and
smartphones, a move that acknowledges the impact of mobile technology in
the civilian world while also increasing the potential for added
security risks.

UK Police Order Social Nets to Stop Outing Released Child Murderer
Police in the UK have ordered Google, Twitter and Facebook to remove
photographs claiming to show the recently released murderer of James
Bulger, who was killed in Liverpool 20 years ago. In addition to the
injunction that bans the photos, authorities threatened Monday to take
legal action -- in the form of fines or even jail time -- against
individuals posting photos of the murderer.

Fuduntu: An Innovative Old Linux Revisited
If you subscribe to the view, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," perhaps
Fuduntu is the ideal Linux distro for your computing needs. Fuduntu
was first released in 2010 as a Fedora-based Linux distribution. Its
developers forked it the following year. The result is a Linux distro
that has a user desktop experience somewhere between Fedora's
functionality and Ubuntu's user-friendliness.

All Things Appy: 5 Best Apple Lifestyle Apps
The introduction of the smartphone can be credited with inspiring many
so-called lifestyle improvements -- not the least of which stems from
its ability to multitask. Junk that alarm clock and makeup mirror, and
gear up for fashion, shopping and art.

IE 10: It's Not Just for Windows 8 Anymore
In what could be a boost for Microsoft in the browser wars, the company
on Tuesday began offering Internet Explorer 10 to Windows 7 users,
giving them the same enhanced Web surfing features previously only
available to those who had access to Windows 8. The company will
automatically update Windows 7 users' browsers in 95 languages over the
next few weeks.
